All of Augustine’s pieces are made using ECONYL yarn, a 100% recycled Nylon yarn obtained from pre-and post-consumer nylon waste via a process invented by Aquafil S.p.A (Italy). Salvaged Nylon fishing nets are recycled using a one of a kind industrial approach, processed in Slovenia (Ajdovscina and Ljubljana) to create a long lasting and high quality Nylon yarn.
Every year, roughly 640,000 tons of fishing gear gets lost or left in the oceans. Abandoned fishing nets, known as ‘ghost nets’, remain in the marine eco system for thousands of years, injuring the sea animals and causing harm to the environment.

This waste is collected through different initiatives and projects from all parts of the world, from the North Sea to South Asia and transformed into ECONYL® regenerated nylon. This quality is exactly the same as brand new nylon that can be recycled, recreated and remoulded again and again.

ECONYL regeneration gives new life to the waste, safeguarding the environment and allowing us to make beautiful sustainable garments.
